Homestyle Beef and Noodles

25 Apr

I have never made beef and noodles, but it sounded good, so I adapted this recipe to fit our tastes. The  roast was so tender and flavorful, and it tasted great served over hot buttered egg noodles. It made it’s own gravy as it slowly cooked, I only had to thicken it. I served this with a side of peas.

Homestyle Beef and Noodles (Source: Tammy’s Recipes)

  • 2-4 pounds of chuck roast
  • 1-2 teaspoons ground cardamom (I  omitted)
  • 2-4 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2-4 teaspoons coarse ground black pepper
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce

Place roast in crock pot. Season with the next three ingredients. Pour soy sauce over roast. Add 1/2 inch of water in crock pot. Cover and cook on low all day. (After the roast was cooked thoroughly I removed it from the crock pot and set it aside. I mixed 1/2 cup milk with 1/4 cup flour until all the lumps were gone. I added this mixture to the juices in the crock pot. I didn’t feel that it was thick enough, so I turned my crock pot on high and thickened it a little more using cornstarch). After the gravy is thickened add the roast back into the crock pot and shred the roast with two forks. Serve over hot buttered egg noodles.

Verdict: We both thought this was excellent!beef
